Gender-Affirming Care

We work with LGBTQ+ individuals to provide gender-affirming behavioral healthcare, including helping individuals access medical care, advocating for clients, and assessing for readiness for transition using WPATH Best Practices.

What to expect

When you call to schedule your initial appointment, you will be asked to provide some basic information like your name, your date of birth, and your insurance information so that we can ensure you have active coverage and won't receive any unexpected bills from us.  If you do not have healthcare coverage and you believe you may qualify for assistance, let us know and we will work with you to help you obtain benefits.

You may request to see a specific therapist, or, if that therapist is not available, we will ask you some screening questions and help you choose a therapist who may be a good fit for you.  If you would like, you can schedule a 15-minute phone consultation with them before coming in.  You will then be scheduled for a full intake.

Once you are scheduled for your intake, you will receive several forms electronically through your client portal.  If you do not feel comfortable completing these electronically or need assistance, let us know and we can help!

When you arrive, you are welcome to spend time in our waiting area, help yourself to books, magazines, or toys, and utilize our coffee and tea bar.  We are a family-friendly and ADA-accessible office.

At your first appointment, you will undergo an assessment with your therapist.  Some of this may be uncomfortable as your therapist will ask you about things like your medical history, your substance use history, your mental health, and other things you've been through or have going on in your life.  The purpose of this assessment is not to judge, but to get to know you as a whole human being from a holistic approach.  You are absolutely free to share or not share whatever you feel comfortable with.

After that, you will work with your therapist to set up a treatment plan and decide what your goals are, how your therapist can help you meet those goals, and how often you'd like to work together.  Treatment plans are reviewed on a yearly basis unless you decide you'd like to revisit it sooner.   Remember that you, the client, get to decide.
